AI PLATFORM
A New Competitor in the Space!

We thought it was a 3 person race to the top with OpenAi, Google Gemini, and X’s Grok. Anthropic just released Claude-3, their large language model designed for more complex tasks: software development, logic, reasoning, and computational ability.

The model can take in large amounts of data with open-ended questions and cover inputs like graphs, charts, and even technical diagrams to give you exactly what you’re looking for.

Reports of use cases for Claude-3 are all over the place, including inputting pictures of Ikea manuals and receiving walk-through directions on building said Ikea product, building other AI agents off of the current ai agent you’re developing, and even turning English instructions into coding workflows.

As many more large language models get rolled out, you'll find that they only know (for now) what’s been inputted into them. They can only be trained on the data given. So, you’ll naturally see some bias in the model. Take a look at what I’ve found:

A lot of AI Twitter has already switched over, and I wouldn’t be shocked if ChatGPT-4.5 gets rolled out quickly to stop the momentum of Anthropic’s Claude-3.

COMPETITION
Midjourney vs Stability Ai

Both Midjourney and Stability.Ai are platforms designed to leverage generative media. The difference is that Midjourney is best for “creating artistic, visually compelling images while Stability.ai is best for extensive customization and technical control over image generation.”

It’s being reported from the Midjourney camp that someone on the Stability team was trying to “run up the bill” on Midjourney in the middle of the night.

What does that mean Zander?

Someone from Stability Ai was spamming their network to try to get all prompt and image pairs. This takes a lot of computing power and makes it hard for other customers to use the platform with the same customer experience they’ve grown to know. As of last Saturday, all Stability employees are banned from using Midjourney.

Some specific outages are as follows:

The big deal here is that this will continue to happen in AI. It's probably one of the most competitive places I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying something, considering I played 10-year-old travel baseball.

CRIMINAL
Google’s Breach of Security

Reports are coming out from Google that there was a mole on the inside!

Linweig Ding faces up to 10 years in prison for stealing AI trade secrets while secretly working with 2 AI-based startups in China.

It’s no secret China fell behind in the race for AI. But with their loud proclamation that humanoids will be operatable by the end of 2025 in China and their mass push in the development space, China is racing to take it back.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
I already knew this Would Happen

According to an article written by the AP Poll, which you can find here, we’re already starting to see the effects of deep fakes in this presidential election.

Fake images created by AI have started circulating of each presidential candidate in fake scenarios, seemingly real to the average eye.

After that election, I noted back in 2020 that deep fakes would be the greatest existential threat before AGI because of how easy the deception is for us to create. There’s a narrative you want? There is nothing easier than to create that via an image or even a video of your political opponent “doing something” to bury them with their own voters.
