Hottest stories from over the Weekend

Goooooodmorning to all our favorite normies out there! We’re ready to start another great week here at Ai For Normal People. We’ve seen some growth over the last month, so if you’re new, we would like to say “welcome 😇 ☕️ “

Tons of stories hit the freeways over the last few days. And we’re here to give you the quick overlay on everything going on in the world of ai.

TOP STORiES 🎉

  • Elon sues OpenAi

  • Sora is dropping more and more videos

  • China looks to ramp up Ai Robotic Efforts

  • Adobe’s Finally Entered the Chat

  • How soon will Siri be turned into an Ai useful tool?

  • OpenAi’s unfortunate Leak

Elon’s fight for Humanity

Elon over the last few days has sued Sam Altman and OpenAi. When Sam took the company, merely overnight, from a open source Non profit to a closed source for profit - Elon and others in the ai space, took issue to that.

Elon was one of the 2 founders alongside current CEO Sam Altman. He even named the project OpenAi (open source ai).

This is a massive deal. (and we’ll talk about it more in depth on tomorrow’s newsletter 😎 )

Sora’s getting Better

Day by Day, OpenAi’s project Sora is getting better. It’s still not released to the public yet but they’re demonstrating more and more HD videos that are truly spectacular.

One thing that I find interesting about this is the GPU war that OpenAi is already currently fighting need more space.

If you’re a subscriber to the Premium version of ChatGPT4 - there is already a limit of the amount of images you can create.

Images take up a lot less storage and power to create than a video. Interested to see what the limit will be when Sora finally reaches to the masses for use.

China’s Fight for Robotics

It’s never been a shock to people about China and there drive to be the greatest power on the planet.

While I will keep my personal opinions of China to myself (for today), they’re racing faster and faster to a future of ai robotics everywhere.

Efforts from China look to ramp up production of robots to hit mass markets by end of 2025.

How do we feel about this?

Adobe’s Ready to Party

Adobe has entered the chat. We’ve been saying for weeks that they’re lacking in the race for Generative ai.

Take any standard audio and transform it to a genre or “vibe” that you’re wanting to transform it to. Create quick tracks, loops, extend audios to fit the length of a video, and a whole lot more!

They call it the “pixel-art” of audio with all the crazy controls and effects they have available.

(if you go look at the tweet, the comments section isn’t too kind to Adobe) but I think they realize “yes, it’s not perfect - it will be something that grows into a great tool for creators”.

We will let you know when this becomes available to the market.

Pick it up Siri, let’s go

Does anyone still use Siri aside from the Boomers?

Siri seems to be an outdated tool that rarely gives us information we need, but mainly is always on in the background listening for “cues in our sentences”.

After scrapping apple cars, pushing out apple vision pro, now the push for generative ai is on. How fast could we see Siri actually be something that’s useful?

Oopsies

OpenAi “accidentally” (it could have been a true accident but I’m not sure), let out the news of building a project called Q* (pronounced q star).

A lot of people are speculating that they got to AGI (artificial general intelligence - you know, the type of ai that’s sentient and understands emotions and feelings and can’t think on its own… 😅 ) already.

While I don’t think this is likely with 1) the iq level is only at around 144 for ChatGPT 4 not to mention 2) we haven’t seen ChatGPT5 yet. This doesn’t mean they’re not storing AGI in the back closet trying not to keep it out - this just means there’s a lot of development that would need to go into a machine being sentient. Like more than we’ve ever seen in human history.

That’s all for today. Reply back in to this email and let me know what you guys think. Tomorrow, we’re going to be covering the rift between Musk and Sam Altman with OpenAi. In Depth. Fireworks - Boom!

See you tomorrow,

Zander
