Sunday Times

3, 2, 1 Action!

Happy Sunday. We’re off to another great week here at ai FNP and we hope you’re getting excited.

A little perspective for ya: while your colleagues are waking up still smelling like the $9 bottle (***that one guys voice*** hold up…. wait a minute) of top shelf liquor (of course) from last night, you’re feeling ready to run through a brick wall. To all my brick wall runners out there:

The ai world has been booming over the last couple days and we’re all hopped up on Mountain Dew ready to get into.

And because there is one story so massive - we’ll be covering that today and more news tomorrow. Hang on to your socks

TOP STORiES (Only 1)

Sora, Wrong Number

Have. You. Seen. This.

I wanted to write all day Friday and Saturday but told myself to refrain for Sunday. It’s out top news story for a reason.

OpenAi (again) popped out Sora - their very own speech to VIDEO generator. Another step in the generative ai roadmap (after speech to text and speech to image). Type out a prompt for a pretty good video produced by ChatGPT.

Here are a few Sora videos at work:

If you watch the videos closely, you’ll see the small details that don’t align with a human shot video. A couple things to remember:

  • to be able to text to generate an video will hurt a lot of video creators looking for b roll content.

  • Sora is definitely not where it needs to be to be used consistently by content creators but there will be basic use cases for it here in the short term

  • Anytime you need a video now, you don’t have to go looking for it and then adjust the vision for the video because you can’t find what you’re envisioning online - you can literally can ask Sora.

COMPETITORS

The ai space is vast. And you would assume that there are a lot of players in the video creation space jumping to continue to make progress.

But there’s really nobody that’s close to the quality of what OpenAi and team have been able to accomplish since their beginning in 2016.

One of their competitors, Runway: Gen 2, had someone place them side by side with a Sora derived video. Here is the tweet. Check out the video to see the difference:

How it’s Built

I found this tweet that I feel is a good resource:

TLDW from Above (w is for watch ^): Dalle-3 has only 2 coordinates —> X/Y. The progression to this would be the first stable video diffusion would introduce the coordinate Time to predict the next frame. Then finally, Sora came to introduce a 3rd coordinate in a Z to give the 3d fundamentals.

Now: entering another video down below in the comments. Would really advice you to check this out

How can I get my hands on this?

There are a few things with this I would like to point out. Right now using Dalle-3, there are massive restrictions in the amount of images you can create in one day with paying the monthly subscription. I think the limit is right around 20 images (i believed it’s measured off size rather than quantity)

OpenAi is not even close to being ready to rolling Sora out to the public. They’re hand selecting certain people to take a look at what they’re building in the professional film industry to make sure it’s on track.

There is no current update but I would assume it would be awhile. That’s why Sam Altman wants to go raise $7T because they need more horsepower to accomplish the dreams and vision for how they see ai positively impacting human society.

That’s all for your Sunday Times (part 1 😉). Interesting stuff with Sora. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear something about it being open to the public. If you have an invite, let me know with a reply back. Would love to interview you to hear about your experience.

We’ll be back tomorrow with more news as this was a jam packed weekend!

See you guys then,
