Monday Times
Is that a thing?
I mentioned yesterday on our Sunday Times that we had a lot of news that broke out over the weekend. One newsletter couldn’t cover it all in one day. So on this Monday edition of ai fnp, we’re giving you another round to catch you up on everything that you need to know.
Without further ado (Zander get out the way)
🍿 TOP STORiES (Round 2)
ElevenLabs releases an add on to Sora
Google Maps continuing to improve
Apple’s new AI editor on XCode
NBA’s try at integrating AI for Fan Experience
News from Karpathy
🆘 Sora, you need some help?
If you read yesterday’s newsletter, you’ll notice we talked about a platform called Sora built by OpenAi. If you missed it, I really advise to check that out.
Sora (in short) is a generative ai platform turning your prompt into a video.
A literal video. Like Transformers type stuff
As great as the quality of the video and overall potential coming out of Sora, one thing they didn’t have at all was sound…
Elevenlabs just released their add on to Sora’s videos allowing the generated video to be read and understood by the ai so that it can add a sound(s) to the background of the video.
IE:
Elevenlabs launches background audio
Automatically get better audio for your video clips without the need for a sound designer
Future is maaaaad 😉

You can sign up for the waitlist at ElevenLabs to gain access to this software. In the meantime, they have an available tool that can turn any text into an audio file.
Type whatever and however much and generate it to a voice that matches the vibe of what you’re going for.
📍 Google Maps new updates
Google Maps, friend to the program, has been in the news a good bit recently. We wrote about them a few weeks ago with their ai that understands normal language they are releasing around the country.
Well Google Maps just dropped another banger.
Here’s the entire thread with a full list of features:
Google keeps leveling up its AI game.
Google just upgraded Maps with huge AI features!

As a kid, I would spend hours looking at arial views of maps of different places I’d either had been to or wanted to go to. So when I found out Google Maps released this feature, I was so excited: (this allows any websites to add the arial maps api into their website or app to continue to share arial view)
3️⃣ New Ariel View API:
This new API allows us to integrate a 3D birds-eye view of a point of interest into apps and websites.
According to Google, AI is used here to identify and extract objects from street view and aerial images.

🍎 Apple Wants to Help You Code More!
Apple really needs to compete with CoPilot that microsoft just rolled out. Don’t worry, Tim Cook and the boys (and girls) are not far behind out in the Valley.
Apple is set to roll out an ai feature through XCode to help you code iOS apps quicker and faster.
“It will use ai to predict and generate code” quickly for developers and engineers

🏀 NBA and the Ai Buzzword
I don’t believe there is a way to stop ai. It will continue to grow and evolve into every facet of our lives. From simple tasks, to actually humanoids coming and cleaning our houses or getting the leaves out of the gutters.
Well one of the biggest entertainment brands came out wanting to swing the bat at a first pitch fastball. It looks like a foul ball…
Adam Silver and Wemby unveil NB-AI at NBA All-Star Tech Summit in Indy - now you can use your voice to activate “movie mode” and make a live NBA game look like your favorite film

I think for the beginning, the same way that ESPN really wanted to get kids to watch the NFL games with Spongebob and Patrick announcing the games with the affects on the screen when someone would score, they would get slimed, etc…
This feature allows you to take the games, real time, and translate them into your favorite movie characters.
I’m got some ideas on how the NBA could upgrade the viewing experience (more on this tomorrow ;))
🪖🐴 Karpathy: The Trojan Horse
I saw a tweet that caught my eye.
Karpathy announced he was leaving OpenAI 4 days ago.
Today, he released an implementation of the Byte Pair Encoding algorithm behind GPT and most LLMs.
Byte Pair Encoding: "Minimal, clean, educational code for the Byte Pair Encoding (BPE) algorithm commonly used in LLM… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Karpathy leaving OpenAi knowing good and well anything he releases quickly will be something that he worked with at OpenAi — he releases this.
A tokenization structure similar to what ChatGPT runs off of.
Was Karpathy a trojan horse for Elon and the boys?? Only time will tell
That’s all for your Sunday Monday Times. Crazy things we’re seeing in the world of ai. Tomorrow, we’ve got a surprise for all of the normies out there.
See you guys then,
