You Just Hired a Personal Software Engineer!

Late Tuesday afternoon, word came out of Cognition Labs. Their brand new AI, “Devin,” can turn a prompt into the software app of your dreams in a matter of minutes.

You can create an app without hiring a UI/UX designer or a mobile/web developer.

The big thing to note here is Devin's SWE-bench rating of 13%. This is drastically higher than Claude's (presumably the previous highest), meaning Devin has the best reasoning capability in complex situations.

Fun Fact: It’s even completed jobs on Upwork as an independent contractor 😆 

Like many other “news leaks” lately, the product is still unavailable to the public, but we will update you with any changes to its status.

You might wonder what a CEO who created something as crazy as this was like when they were younger. I found this tweet that I think you will find hilarious:

A Thought Exercise

Marques Brownlee interviewed leads from the Sora team, who gave an update on Sora’s development. Toward the end, the Sora Lead said, “We really see modeling reality as the first step to transcending it.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the merger.

In five years, the ability to detect what was created by humans and what was created artificially will not be two different colors. It will not be blue on one side or red on the other like it is right now.

It will be purple. 

MIDJOURNEY
Character References Are Finally Here

We’ve got big news from Midjourney. Do you remember the monkeys we used to do as the article header image for these newsletters?

The biggest issue I could not get worked out from ChatGPT (I know, tsk tsk) was taking the same monkey daily and having him do different things. We would have to sit there and work the prompt to get the monkey visual as close as the day before without running out of prompting credits with ChatGPT.

Well, Midjourney has fixed that. Once you get a character you like that they’ve created, take the URL from that image and continually reference it as you create new images with that character.

Massive for creators needing consistent, new content.

Video ✅ Audio ✅ 

Pika Labs has now released audio effects to match its video generation tool.

You can create a video and allow Pika to create the audio on your behalf. You can also request sound effects in certain areas for a more specific feel.

No more taking the generated videos, sending them to premiere, and then adding sound effects if need be. Let Pika do it all for you.
